My name is Julia Geurts and I am happy to say that I’m the new chairwoman of Ipso Facto. I am in my second year of Bsc International Development Studies and I am satisfied with my study selection. I am currently living in Wageningen with two other girls and we are always have a lot of fun. A few interests of mine are horse riding on my horse Donna who I already know for eight years and also walking with my dog while I am listening to music. Friends and family are also very important for me and have a special place in my heart. I also like to travel and already have been to China, India and Togo (a small country in West-Africa). For me it’s very interesting to see how other people live and to learn about their cultures. Last year I joined the Travelcommittee and with a few other nice students we planned a trip to Slovenia. We visited the capital Ljubljana, we walked in the beautiful nature and we dived in the clear lakes. Furthermore we visited a few NGO’s like Amnesty International, the Red Cross and we talked with a Dutch trainee from the embassy of Slovenia. For me it was an educational experience to arrange this visits and being responsible for this trip. Since September 2017 I was the secretary of Ipso Facto. I really enjoyed it, but I was looking for a bigger challenge. So I decided that I would become the chairwoman of Ipso Facto, because this is a new challenge for me and I think it is very important to develop your own skills. Therefore my main goal is to have a good oversight over everything that still has to be done for the study association and still looking for potentially new opportunities. In general I am pretty optimistic person who loves to talk with people about everything. I am looking forward to this new board and I will do my best to make it a great success.
